You look into those eyes…
You see pain, fear, vulnerability.
You see a soul. You see your soul.

That’s a soul people often overlook because your hands are tiny, your body is full and curvy, you’re short, your smile is childish… Because you have many talents. Because you’re regarded as someone smart with ideas of your own. Most of those who know you like to hear you talk about your unique views on the world. They go to you to hear truth, honesty, and something that’s just… different.

You know better. Those things don’t define you. Talent doesn’t equate to happiness, and individuality doesn’t equate to intelligence. It doesn’t even equate to independence.

Your eyes define you, or at least try. If someone makes a comment about them it might be a simple “They’re a cool shade of brown” or, the deepest you’ve ever heard “You have really sweet, expressive eyes.”

No one sees what you don’t really hide anymore. You can’t hide it because you don’t really know what it is… You just know that no one has ever seen it straight from your eyes. You feel that this struggle defines you.

What’s your struggle? Your quest for yourself. So you feel that what defines you is… nothing. Your own undefinedness.

No. You’re wrong. What defines you, my dear, is exactly the opposite. Everything. Because you find something to relate with in everything, and everything feels like part of yourself. You can’t just choose just one. What really defines you is your tridimensionality. Everything in your world has many aspects and facets and you could swear that you also see a fourth dimension. You never say this out loud, but deep down you feel it’s true.

Yes, you never stop fighting and you’re attracted to all things dark and sad. But behind that, hidden even better, there’s this girl that laughs and smiles at every opportunity she has. Very few know this, because you tend to be rather serious and hurtful and unwilling to yield. Almost no one knows silly, content, childish you.

You smile because the sky is blue and the clouds are white.
You smile because the wind is blowing and it makes a soothing sound.
You smile because the world is colorful and you can see it.
You smile because when you open your fridge and realize it’s full.
You smile because the boy you like said hi to you.
You smile at the sole mention of the words “swings”, “bubbles”, “stars”, “hearts”, “laugh” and obviously “smile.”
You smile because you’re listening to happy songs.
You smile because you like the book you’re reading and the movie you’re watching.
You smile when you throw yourself over your pillows and cushions and stuffed animals and you’re comfortable with whatever position you fall in.
You smile because you can love.
You smile because you’re loved.
You smile when you find common ground with someone.
You smile when you wake up on your own after a good sleep.
You smile because you’re addicted to hugs so you can give them easily.
You smile because you have many people who accept your hugs.
You smile when you discover something you like in someone.

And at the same time you laugh and sing and dance and run, even if it’s just inside your mind. You do it, and when you’re alone you also show it.

You do it just because you can.
Sometimes, you do it just because you live.

And for that second, you’re in control. You own your life.
You own the world.
